Sakariba of HK Lennon Wall

Overall Illustration

Sakariba in Hong Kong is no longer a paradise of entertainment, but a space for people to express their views towards society issues. Even though massive information is circulated on the internet and people can make their individual statement through various social media, the noise is limited in virtual world. Hongkongers have an urge to make their voice heard by the society. The new Sakariba takes place from central business district to rural area in Hong Kong. Its configuration connects some urban nodes such as city park, plaza, atrium, through “HK Lennon Wall”.

“HK Lennon Wall” creates a new function of existing public space and becomes a new bonding power of the city. This Lennon Wall On-going Gallery is scattering everywhere in Hong Kong. The idea is derived from the rise of disinformation from the Internet and the broadcasting medium; and it aims to spread out genuine and factual information to the public. It is a platform of displaying people’s statements, upcoming events, important information etc by putting posters or memo labels on existing urban fabric. Everyone has the right to put their messages on the Lennon Wall no matter their age, gender, race or identity. Its expression is flexible that every surface of the city could be become part of the “HK Lennon Wall”.
