New with Old
Story of Pinocchio’s Adventure talks about the adventure of wooden puppet, Pinocchio, and its experiencing life to be grown up. The area is full of beautiful historical buildings and rich history. By respecting and appreciating the existing Paper Factory. We suggest a harmony relationship of the new library building mass and upgrading it as part of the overall new library development. It becomes part of the exhibition space while reading exhibits, children and visitors are being put inside part of the history. They can directly relate by the local culture and get the taste of story background through the space they located.  

The Path
Our idea starts from the Pinocchio story line and we interpreted it as “the Path of Adventure”. Through exploring the library, children and visitors are also encouraged going through different new space without knowing it ahead.  The pathways lead to the different zones  with different kinds of books. They will explore the library which is mixed with active media interactions, reading experience inside story scenery, and gardens.  It can give a feeling of mystery and challenges. Mixed with different functions enriches overall experience of reading. Reading and learning from fairy tales is no long only quiet still activity.  It contains surprises, mystery and interactions together in order to stimulate the imagination of children.  They can be inspired by different experience as a new adventure by seeking and go through the library.

The Garden| Reading inside the Nature
We believe the Nature is the element of inspiration.  Secret gardens, roof gardens and internal tree are virtual in the design. We aim to provide a feeling of reading under the tree shadow. Minimize the feeling of enclosure by walls which give the feeling of interior.  Children can read inside but also under the natural sun light and wind.
